Meet Our 3 Founding Families
Lab School Founder: Mrs. Renee Roberts
"I wanted to start Lab School because I homeschooled our kids for 21 years. We watched our kids go on to colleges and careers that were all vastly different, and our children have become very successful on their chosen paths. We wanted to give other students the same educational experience that is tailored to them and does not have to conform to the cultural 'norms.' We pray that students who attend Lab School will leave with an excellent education that allows them to learn and seek knowledge, build a network of friends they can truly call family, develop a love for learning that will never leave them and know there will always be a place where they will be welcomed, loved and encouraged." |
Renee grew up mostly in Europe and Washington, D.C. She graduated from a school where the whole city was used as her classroom, giving her the unique opportunity to learn that education isn't just in textbooks. She finally settled in Norman in 1995 with her husband, Don. Renee and Don have eight children, whom Renee has homeschooled for the past 21 years. She attended college in Maryland, California, and Oklahoma. Renee's academic first loves are history and math, but also has taught English, government, and science for many years at homeschool groups and directed a homeschool co-op for five years in Norman. She was the director of CrossPointe Community Center, where she ran Focus 27, a sports and academic summer program for 65 children. Renee looks forward to partnering with the amazing families that make Lab School a special and unique place to grow and learn.
Lab School Founders: Mr. Peter and Mrs. Patty Mills
"We started Lab school because we saw the need for a place where children could grow and learn using a hands-on approach. We wanted students to enjoy going to school and to remember what they learn. We believe small classes make all the difference. With this structure, school is more of a family environment, where students feel comfortable and open to ask questions. By asking questions, they are truly understanding what they learn.

"Our goal is that students at Lab School take pride in everything they do and make a difference in the world. To us, making a difference means doing the little things that no one ever knows you do. We want all students to be happy with who they are without the need of recognition from others to make them feel complete." Peter and Patty have two children and have been married for 31 years. They are two of the owners of Premier Sportsplex, which serves our community through sports and fitness. In addition, Peter serves as President and Director of OK Premier Volleyball. Patty serves as Secretary and Club Administrator of OK Premier Volleyball and one of the founders of Camp 925. Both play critical roles in growing many programs in our community!
Lab School Founders: Mr. Wes and Mrs. Brandy White
"Our inspiration for starting Lab School was to provide a learning environment where students benefit from hands-on teaching in a small-class setting. By doing away with busywork and truly focusing on the concepts, teachers can care for each child as their own, ensuring no one falls through the cracks and all students maximize their potential.
Our hope for the Lab School is that in addition to becoming fully educated at the highest level and ready to take their next steps academically, our students also understand there is so much more to being an adult than just a passing grade. |
We want students to leave knowing their worth, recognizing others around them, understanding respect, valuing hard work and having developed a plan for where they are headed next." Wes and Brandy have been married 21 years and homeschooled their four children before starting the Lab School of Oklahoma. They are also two of the owners of Premier Sportsplex, which serves our community in multiple ways through sports and fitness. Brandy was one of the founders and directors of Camp 925 and Focus 27. She served as the Community Center Director at CrossPointe Church and is the Vice President and Coaching Director of OK Premier Volleyball. Wes and Brandy are truly passionate about making a difference in the community!
